India Guides -Monsoon Special - Monsoons, a Photo story by Manu Bahuguna
After one has almost given up hope at the end of a long indian summer, comes reprieve in the form of the monsoon. Indian literature is full of the romance which the rain and the mist brings and which have made poets lapse into torrents of verse. This giver of life also causes untold misery in some parts of the country but everyone knows there would be no existence without it.
Travelling during the monsoons is an experience in itself - roads turn into rivers, tiny rivulets turn into monsters and small puddles start looking like the sea. This is also one of the best time to travel if you are going to the right places as land takes a different hue and the parched ground becomes lush green. There is nothing like getting drenched in the first shower of the monsoon and there is nothing as intoxicating as the fragrance of wet earth; Earth slowly coming to life after months of dryness.
