Annual Ladakh Festival

Ladakh has innumerable Buddhist monasteries perched atop barren hills. Each monastery celebrates a festival once ever year. Most of these are held in winters. The Hemis monastery festival called Tseshu is held in June-July every year. The festivals essentially celebrate the victory of good over evil. Celebrations are marked by colourful pantomimes by masked dancers. These performances are depictions from Buddhist mythological stories.
