How to Get there
We have all imagined owning an island at some point of time in our lives. At Bangaram, you can virtually do that for a few days if you have some money! At Rs. 14000/- per day during peak season, the place is not considered expensive by those who have sampled the world. Sixty Square Kilometers of pristine lagoon, two uninhabited islands five minutes away and a shipwreck just outside the reef where you can see the most colourful fish, make the resort an exclusive place to be. No wonder, it was one of the most favourite places of Rajiv Gandhi, who took his yearly sabbatical here while he was the Prime Minister of the country.
The cottages are nice and spacious, perfectly in sync with the nature. You can sample the best seafood and you would have plenty to do, if you like to jump into water or bask under the sun.
Bangaram is one of the finest locations for SCUBA diving and Snorkelling in the world; the diving school is run by Prahlad Kakkar, the well known Advertising Film Maker who would like to give up his career if he could make enough money teaching you diving!
ACCOMMODATION 30 huts spread across 128 acres of land. The rooms are well furnished and comfortable.
FACILITIES A dining hut that serves ethnic and continental cuisine. Barbecues at night. Facilities for scuba diving, deep-sea fishing, snorkelling and other water sports. The resort also offers diving courses for beginners.
HOW TO GET THERE Regular flights operate between Cochin and Agatti. From Agatti, Bangaram is a half hour boat ride. You can also reach Bangaram by ship from Cochin. However, the ship schedules are not very reliable or frequent.
