Andaman & Nicobar - Festivals

Festivals

Island Tourism Festival: A 15-day festival held in December and January every year. The festival is organised by the Andaman and Nicobar Island Administration. The focus is on Eco-friendly tourism. Leading artists in classical, vocal and instrumental music, dance and cultural troupes are invited to perform. Water sport competitions, races, magic shows, puppet shows, scuba diving and a host of other games are organised on the occasion. Handicrafts peculiar to these islands are also on display.

Subhash Mela: Held in January every year in Havelock Island, the festival celebrates the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, a freedom fighter. A variety of cultural programs are organised on the occasion.

Vivekananda Mela: Held in January every year in Neil Island, the festival celebrates the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

Block Mela: Held in January - February every year at Diglipur, the festival highlights rural development in these areas. Various aspects of rural life in these areas are on display during the festival.
