This program takes you to the beautiful town of Lepcha Jagat that is also known as the Gateway to North Bengal. In its serene environment you can go for long walks along the wooded forest trails. From Lepcha Jagat you drive to Mirik. You must make a trip to the picturesque Mirik Lake. You can go boating or even horse riding around the lake. Mirik is famous for its tea estates, luxurious orange orchards and sprawling cardamom plantations. You drive back to Lepcha Jagat.
The following day you can visit the Jorepokhri Salamander Project at Sukhia Pokhri, Darjeeling. The Project is an attempt to preserve the population of the Himalayan Newt, a rare species of amphibian. Next you drive to Lava. On the way you can stop over at Teesta Bazaar situated on the main road between Siliguri and Gangtok. The idyllic village of Lava offers a tranquil and quiet atmosphere for the weary traveller. From here you can view the Jelep La and Rechila La passes. You can also visit the Lava monastery.
You can make a short trip to the Pedong monastery and Delo Top located near Kalimpong. The next destination is Lolaygaon from where the summit of Khangchendzonga is visible. You can drive to Jhandidara to view a splendid sunrise over Kanchenjunga. Situated at a hilltop, Jhandidara offers a panoramic view of the region. You drive back to Siliguri.
