Mirik is famous for its tea estates, luxurious orange orchards and sprawling cardamom plantations. You drive back to Lepcha Jagat.

The following day you can visit the Jorepokhri Salamander Project at Sukhia Pokhri, Darjeeling. The Project is an attempt to preserve the population of the Himalayan Newt, a rare species of amphibian. Next you drive to Lava. On the way you can stop over at Teesta Bazaar situated on the main road between Siliguri and Gangtok. The idyllic village of Lava offers a tranquil and quiet atmosphere for the weary traveller. From here you can view the Jelep La and Rechila La passes. You can also visit the Lava monastery.
