This spiritual voyage gives you the opportunity to visit and explore some of the most sacred sites of the Indian people. Your journey begins at the capital city Delhi. You can spend a day going around this city of many wonders. Visit the majestic Red Fort. Another must see is the India Gate, a memorial raised to pay tribute to the Indian soldiers martyred in the various wars fought by India. The lotus-shaped Bahai Temple and the Laxminarayan Temple are two religious structures worth a visit. Next you drive to Rajasthan’s Pink city, Jaipur. Visit the splendid Amber Fort, situated just at the outskirts of the city. Travel into the heart of Jaipur to visit the City Palace Complex. Another monument you must see is Jantar Mantar, the largest of five observatories built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh.
From Jaipur you drive to Agra. You can stop over en route to visit the town of Fatehpur Sikri. Upon reaching Agra, your first sightseeing activity should be a visit to the spectacular Taj Mahal. Next you travel to the holy city, Varanasi. You can go from here to Sarnath, an important Buddhist pilgrimage site. In Varanasi take a boat ride down the river Ganges. The thousands of pilgrims at the ghats is a sight to behold. Also visit the Vishwanath Temple built by the Birlas. An interesting visit can be made to the Bharat Mata Temple that displays, a huge relief map in marble of the whole of Indian subcontinent, instead of gods and goddesses.
You drive to Bodhgaya where Gautam Buddha attained enlightenment, under the bodhi tree. In Bodhgaya visit the magnificent Mahabodhi Temple, which depicts the various phases of Buddha’s journey towards enlightenment. Another must see is the Bodhgaya Archaeological Museum that houses a small collection of Buddhist sculpture dating from 1st century B.C to 11th century A.D. Your next stop is Patna. Visit Har Mandir Sahib, also known as Patna Sahib, which consecrates the place where the 10th Guru of the Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh was born in 1776. Next make your way to the Patna Museum that has a rich collection of Mauryan and Buddhist sculptures, terracotta and other interesting relics.From Patna you travel to Kushinagar. Later visit the Rambhar Stupa, which marks Buddha’s cremation ground. Also visit the Mahaparinirvana temple, which houses the recumbent figure of Lord Buddha. Next drive to Lumbini, which is the birthplace of Lord Buddha. You fly to Kathmandu. Here you can visit the old royal palace of Hanuman Dhoka
The name has been derived from the statue of Hanuman (the monkey god of Hindu mythology). Also visit the hilltop Stupa of Swayambhunath, considered to be 2,000 years old.
