This program starts in the capital city of Delhi. Spend two days touring this city of great heterogeneity. The next city you fly to is a powerhouse of cultural traditions, none other than Kolkata. You should visit its numerous museums. A must see is the Eden Gardens, recognized as one of the largest cricket stadiums. You can also make a trip to the Salt Lake Stadium, the biggest in Asia. After a two-night stay in Kolkata you will travel to Lucknow. Known to have been the centre of the Nawabs of Avadh, Lucknow is situated along the banks of the river Gomti. The huge mausoleums of the Nawabs are an interesting place to visit. You can visit the tomb of Bara Imambara that provides an excellent view of the city. Another must see is the Rumi Darwaza, a huge 60-feet-high door also known as the Turkish Gateway.
Your trip continues as you travel to Varanasi. From here you will go on an excursion to Sarnath where Lord Buddha spread the message of Buddhism. The Dhameka Stupa is one structure that you must visit in Sarnath. The next stop is Khajuraho where you will see the much-celebrated temples that are adorned with some of the finest sculptures of the sub-continent. You will be driven to Gwalior and make a brief stop in Orcha. Spend a day touring the city of Gwalior. Your journey will now take you to Agra, which you reach via rail. Here you visit the dazzling Taj Mahal. From here you return to Delhi with a taste of vast Northern India in all its splendour.
